Tonight was the sweetest, simplest gift from God.
Lightning bugs glowed against the backdrop of the woods as their namesake echoed their flashes in a distance thunderhead. A bat fluttered overhead with barely audible clicks as it navigated the darkening skies. The cool, humid air was so still, I could sprint for 40 meters, stop suddenly, and feel my own wind pass me by. I figured out a major flaw in my disc golf throwing form, made significant progress in correcting it, and now I can throw more accurately with greater control.
Any one of these things would have delighted my heart. Yet their combination somehow stills me into great contentment and thankfulness towards my gracious and generous God. And that's the part I most appreciate: not individual pieces of the evening, but that He would pull them all together into a gift I could never earn.
