Learning a Spending Principle

I'm enjoying listening to the Dave Ramsey Show (a money radio show) via podcast and today I heard this spending principle:

If a purchase is more than $300, sleep on it. Simply, slow down

Upon further reflection, I think I tend to be the opposite. I think over a purchase so much, I sometimes procrastinate buying something In a timely manner. However, I do tend to rush decisions in other areas of my life. I want to rush into settling in one area, rush into romance, rush into full recovery, rush into getting ahead on schoolwork. I need to slow down in these areas, and then perhaps speed up in some others.
