I grew up in the church have grown up hearing the verse Galatains 1:10 and am very familiar with it.
"For I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I still trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be servant of Christ."
However, I never truly knew its context before; it's always been taken out of the surrounding Scripture in teachings. The passage before it speaks of deserting the gospel believers first heard for "another" one, a distorted one instead. The starting word "For" in verse ten ties the entire verse back to the passage before it, and this is so important. The believers who were turning after another gospel were listening and agreeing to it in order to please man. They did not stand up for the truth they knew because they were people-pleasers.
How often do I do that myself? Heaven knows I'd be ashamed to understand exactly how much. May I do so no longer.
